“Sharing IS Caring”
Can you remember how many times you’ve heard that little phrase as a kid? As an adult? I would guess a good dozen times and each time it was said, it brought a smile to your face, simply because of a simple little memory that’s stowed away deep in your heart. Yet, today we live our lives day after day
forgetting about “who or why” it was that shared a special moment with us that expressed some kind of an act of love with us.
NOT !
Scratch that, the reason we remember it no matter how long it was or how little of a moment it was, is because its stowed away in our hearts forever. We might live our lives day after day not dwelling on them, but when times are rough or we’re feeling sad, or simply need a self picker upper, its these moments that keep us alive and moving forward.*One very special man who’s created a ton of special moments in more ways then one is Dr. Patch Adams. His name might ring a bell as Hollywood did create a movie in his honor. Robin Williams played the good doctor on the big screen.
Dr. Adams unbelievable success rate in healing the body, mind and spirit along with laughter goes a long way with two main ingredients. Love & compassion. His story began right after medical school in 1971. His dream was to open his own hospital that would help people with all types of health care issues, all at the same facility. Since a diploma doesn’t come with advanced funds he along with three of his friends who happen to be doctors and his children moved into a 6 bedroom house and soon right after a few nurses joined them and they started to help people in every sense of the word. No exception, if you needed care, you received it, and if you couldn’t pay, then you didn’t have to. His message was clear from the start. “If you need us, we’re here with any kind of health issues you might need. We treat anything from birth to death. If you’ve been told your going to die, I’m your man, come and stay with us”.
Donations started coming in after 12 years of serving his community. The amount received was very limited and Dr. Adams and his staff took on second jobs to help pay for basic requirements that were needed to keep operating. Today 40 years later and more then 15,000 patients treated, his work has spread though out the world. The unbelievable rate of his success with his one on one special TLC treatment is well to be desired by more then just the needy.
Please watch the video below and tell me if its not hard to give freely to his organization.
Every little bit helps, and keep in mind those three little words.
