Bloggers all around the world are coming together as “one” community on April 29th 2009 in hopes to make a difference with those who are less fortunate than others. Our goal as “bloggers” is to make people from all backgrounds aware of just how fortunate most of us are and just how bad some people have it by not having enough to eat.
The numbers are quite shocking. Today there are more than 500 million people without homes and more than 15 million children are suffering of starvation each year.
In the US alone there are 46% of African-American children and 49% of Latino children suffering from malnourishment. These kids live all around us and most of us aren’t even aware of it as we become too wrapped up in our own everyday lives.
Perhaps somewhere in the back of our minds we are thinking someone else is out there taking care of these people and someone else is making a difference. But the sad truth is, there is a very small amount of people who actually take the time to care.
Please take a moment to view this video and not only open your eyes and ears to it, but your heart as “we the people” can make a difference.
SO WHAT CAN YOU DO ABOUT IT?
oLearn more about the issue of hunger so you can take more effective action.
oVolunteer at a local soup kitchen or food bank by offering prepare or deliver foods.
oAsk your favorite restaurant to donate extra food and kitchen equipment to local hunger-relief agencies.
oDonations are always good but make sure it’s a worthy hunger-related organizations.
oStart a canned food drives at your place of employment or church group or even start one of your own by charging admission of a can food to your next social event. After the party, make sure your catered extra food goes to local hunger-relief agencies.
oShare your strength. Donate your professional skills to a hunger relief group by designing flyers, doing their accounting, or organizing a fund-raiser.
oObtain a “wish-list” from a local hunger relief group of items they need such as pots and pans, dishes, kitchen equipment, etc., and circulate it amongst your friends and co-workers to try to obtain some of the materials.
Hi Angie,
Nice blog you have, and the idea for bloggers to help hunger relief? That was fantastic, I was there’ll be more the similar kinds of ideas pop-up in the future.
I believe we, the bloggers also have tremendous social responsibility towards the less fortunate sisters and brothers in our earth village, don’t you agree?
Looking forward to hear from your again.
God Bless and Best Regards,
Edward
