Open Your Eyes People

So lately I’ve been thinking about King Solomon quite a bit.  As He was the wisest man who ever lived on the face of the earth as G_d Himself gave him the gift of wisdom.
Probably because I find myself troubled lately as my daughter whom I love more than life seems to suddenly not give two cents about anything I have to say. Granted she is 24 years of age and yes I understand she’s an adult.

I’d even go so far as to say she doesn’t have to take any of my advice at this age. However what has me troubled is that she doesn’t even care to hear what I say because she claims she already knows what I am going to say before I say it.  Which I doubt. – Might come close to it but even so, she hushes me up with her actions before I even speak a word.
Then later sends me a text saying she didn’t mean to be rude to me, it’s just that my words hurt her feelings so she rather not listen to them.

Troubled and looking for some kind of guidance my thoughts therefore are those towards King Solomon since he was granted a heart of understanding and has many words of wisdom that included  wealth, and power.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the story; Solomon was the son of King David, of Israel. Solomon was appointed King right before his father died when he was only 12 years old. Shortly after that, God appeared to him in a dream as the boy was troubled thinking he couldn’t live up to his father’s greatness.

In his dream God tells the boy he will grant him a wish and he could ask for anything he wants.
To which Solomon say’s:
“I am but a small child … Give therefore your servant an understanding heart to judge your people.
His request pleases God so much that he tells him,”Because you have not requested riches and honor but only that which would benefit all the people, I will give you not only an
understanding heart like none other before or after you … but also
riches and honor like no other king in your days.” (1 Kings 3:7-13)
And He did, he became the wisest of all men, not just Torah “wisdom” but secular knowledge of science and more.

Solomon also built the Temple in Jerusalem and reigned over Israel’s golden age.

THEN the idea came to me.

If she won’t listen to anything I have to say and is big on texting, then what I am going to do is text her one of King Solomon’s Proverbs each day.

And so the texting begins, one Proverb daily at a time…

The way of fools seems right to them,
but the wise listen to advice.
Fools show their annoyance at once,
but the prudent overlook an insult.

The wise in heart accept commands,
but a chattering fool comes to ruin.

Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life,
but whoever ignores correction leads others astray.

Where there is strife, there is pride,
but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
